A Letter to Mr. D

(Photo from www.sho.com. )
Dear Mr. D,

I know that as I write this letter, you are already in heaven.
Well, my parents told me when I was young that good people go to heaven.
I think that's exactly you.

You ain't perfect, Mr. D, but you touched lives of young people when you taught them through your crazy  ways that others may not fully understand. You just didn't teach your students what to learn. You taught them how to love to learn. You taught them to be happy about themselves. You built their self-esteem and made them appreciate their uniqueness. You made them realize how special they are. You'll be remembered for that.

If I'd be a teacher, I want to have your passion. Your crazy ideas that may not seem "teaching" in the eyes of others but surely did make your students learn. I'd like to have your guts of trying unconventional things in the class without having to care about teaching but students' learning not just of school but of life. I'd like to have your energy and enthusiasm about life despite all odds.

Mr. D, you've placed me in a state of sweet anxiety. Hope I can bear this and actually materialize the inspiration I got from you. I know and I feel from inside that I have a part of you. I just wish I'll be able to make the most out of it whatever it takes.

Until then, Mr. D. Heaven must be really fun and exciting with you in there. :)

Admiring you most,

J
